PRIMO dierum omnium,

First of All Days

本首聖詩歸於教宗大聖格里高利（Pope St. Gregory the Great, 540-604）名下，并且有充足的证据证明了这一点。在圣高隆邦所著「Altus prosator」的序言之中，描述了圣格里高利的使者带来了礼物和一套时辰日课的圣诗。然后，圣高隆邦也将自己所写的一套圣诗送给了圣格里高利。到底是格里高利真的写了这首圣诗，还是只是寄来当时罗马流行的圣诗，近来有很多的争论，两种观点都有大量的证据。

传统上，本首圣诗是用于冬令时的主日的夜禱（Matins）。在新礼，被用于时辰日课之中，常年期的第一周和第三周主日的诵读日课。下面是完整的聖詩。而在时辰日课之中，只是用了前四句，以及不同的结束句。在罗马日课经（the Roman Breviary）之中，圣诗被大幅度修改，并且被改为：「Primo die, quo Trinitas」。
