本首聖詩是由聖安波羅修（340-397 年）所作。在羅馬日課之中，全年禮拜一的夜禱（Matins）。在新禮日課之中，用於日課誦讀的第一週和第三週的禮拜一誦讀。也用於莎霖日課之中全年禮拜一的夜禱（Matins）使用。
