這首聖詩歸於教宗大聖格里高利，用於傳統日課之中，為傳統日課的夜禱（Matins）聖詩。在新禮，時辰祈禱中用於常年期日課誦讀的第一週和第三週的禮拜三誦讀。在《羅馬日課經》之中，為禮拜三的夜禱（Matins）聖詩。也用於《莎霖日課》之中全年禮拜三的夜禱（Matins）使用。
