本首聖詩歸於大聖格里高利，主題是關於創造的第二日，在這一日穹蒼被創造（創世記1:6、8）。這首聖詩傳統上在禮拜一晚上誦讀。在新禮，時辰祈禱之中，用於常年期的聖詠集第一週和第三週的禮拜一晚禱。在《羅馬日課經》之中，用於禮拜一的晚禱。

Firmans locum caelestibus, simulque terrae rivulis, ut unda flammas temperet, terrae solum ne dissipet:1	上有天界， 下有河川， 各有定位， 秩序井然； 流水節制地熱， 使大地安全。
Infunde nunc, piissime, donum perennis gratiae, fraudis novae ne casibus nos error atterat vetus.	求主賜我豐富的恩典， 面對新的誘惑， 不要讓我們重犯舊錯， 陷入兇險；
