本首聖詩歸於大聖格里高利，主題是延續了本週聖詩之中關於創造的內容，本日主題是關於第五天的創造，在這一日創造海裏的魚，空中的鳥（創世記 1:20-23）。這首聖詩傳統上在禮拜四晚禱誦讀。在新禮，時辰祈禱之中，用於常年期的聖詠集第一週和第三週的禮拜四晚禱。在《羅馬日課經》之中，用於禮拜四的晚禱。

Demersa lymphis imprimens, subvecta caelis irrogans,3 ut, stirpe una prodita,4 diversa repleant loca:	求祢普施宏恩， 滌除僕人的罪污， 使我們不再失足， 免遭喪亡的悲痛；
Largire cunctis servulis, quos mundat unda sanguinis, nescire lapsus criminum, nec ferre mortis taedium.	上主，我們的天主， 我們向祢哀禱歌頌。 慈悲的天主， 求祢大力助佑，
